Jay-Z & Other Heavyweights Will Be Inducted Into The Songwriters Hall of Fame

Congrats goes out to Jay-Z has he will become the first rapper to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame this June 2017. Among Jay-Z others have been announced which include Kenneth “ Babyface” Edmonds, Max Martin and Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis will also be a part of its 2017 class. The organization’s 48th Annual Induction ad Awards Dinner takes place June 2015 in New York City. To even be considered for such an prestigious recognition, songwriters are eligible for induction after writing hit songs for at least 20 years. Jay-Z has write many hit song is the past two decades including “Big Pimpin” and “Empire State of Mind”.

However, Songwriting Hall nominees who did not move on to induction include the late George Michael, Madonna, Vince Gill, Kool & the Gang, Bryan Adams and Gloria Estefan.

Only five songwriters, or songwriting groups, are inducted each year.
